Behind the Scenes: Q&A with Ambra Health Customer Success Associate, Lucas Voli

A recent interview between Rebecca Schankerman, Ambra Health Marketing Associate, and Lucas Voli, Ambra Health Customer Success Associate about his unique career path, the day-to-day life of a Customer Success Associate, and his favorite parts of being back in the office post-covid.

Rebecca: How did you first learn about Ambra and what drew you to apply?

Lucas: I found it through the Boston College network (Go Eags!). There were a few BC alumni that started here before me, andhelped me find Ambra! I was a biology major, interested in medicine but not in a hospital setting. I was looking for an opportunity with the intersection of working with physicians and being on the technical side and impacting patient care. Ambra checked all of those boxes, and I am happy to say that I just celebrated my 3 year anniversary.

Rebecca: You have a unique career path at Ambra. How has it been going from a Sales Development Representative, to the Customer Success side?

Lucas: Starting on the Sales team taught me a lot about the world of radiology and gave me a unique opportunity to hone my interpersonal skills over both phone and email. I am super thankful for the opportunity to begin my career on such a great team, and it really set me up for success in my new role on the aptly-named Customer Success (CS) team. On the CS Team, I have since had the opportunity to manage my own accounts, serve as the point person for some of Ambra’s largest accounts, and even manage a team of direct reports! 

Rebecca: If you could tell someone one unique thing about your day-to-day job in Customer Success, what would it be? 

Lucas: The unique thing is that every day is different. I bounce between meetings with happy customers that want to explore using Ambra in a more extensive capacity, and I also deal with issue handling. You really get the good and the bad. Being able to balance that and maintain a level head is really important and it keeps me grounded in my day-to-day life. 

Rebecca: Where do you expect the CS team at Ambra to go in the next 2-5 years?

Lucas: I think we will continue to grow exponentially. There were only a handful of others on the team when I started, and now we have grown to 30 or 40 people that fall under Customer Success. I think we will continue that rapid growth as the customer base grows and the Sales team continues to bring in more customers. Ambra is great at keeping our customers happy and working with them to expand their workflows and use cases with us. Ambra’s customers are truly our best advocates, so keeping them happy is vital to Ambra’s growth!

Rebecca: How has Ambra helped you in your career development?

Lucas: Ambra has given me the opportunity to manage a team, something that when I joined Ambra I was definitely not expecting. It has also been amazing to learn the more technical aspects of the Ambra software and work on communicating this to our customers. The balance of the technical background I have developed and the chance to be able to hone my leadership style has helped me better serve the people that are on my team. 

Rebecca: Outside of being a Customer Success Associate, what are some of your hobbies? 

Lucas: I love to be able to get outside and go on a bike ride, especially when the weather is nice in the Northeast! I also love to cook and try out new recipes, which was a nice silver lining of being stuck quarantining in my apartment!

Rebecca: The Ambra Health team has recently returned to work in the offices. What are you most excited about for the remainder of 2021?

Lucas: I am most excited about the water cooler, coffee pot moments. I think that after being in my apartment for 15-16 months, it is nice to have those one-off check-ins and chats that didn’t happen when we were remote. It required a lot more intentionality to have non-work related conversations, where now it comes more naturally. Being able to make jokes and just chat around the office is something I am really looking forward to. It brings a lot of camaraderie. It shows that we can be serious and technical, but also fun at the same time. 

Rebecca: Any final words you would like to add about working for Ambra?

Lucas: Ambra really is an indescribable place to work, and has given me more opportunities to grow than I could have imagined. It is the smartest collection of people I have ever come across, and they continue to challenge me to be the best version of myself. It’s amazing that when people ask me what I do, I get to tell them about Ambra! I can’t wait to see what great things Ambra does in the future, and where we will go next!

Lucas Voli is an alumnus of Boston College with a degree in Biology. Lucas has an interest in healthcare and technology, specifically how they can be combined to improve patient outcomes and experiences. As a Customer Success Associate at Ambra, Lucas works with a variety of customers to tackle complex problems and deliver impactful solutions that improve their utilization of the Ambra platform.
