A recent interview between Rebecca Schankerman, Ambra Health Field Marketing Coordinator, and Nina Vaswani, Ambra Health Product Marketing Manager. Nina shares about forging her unique career path at Ambra, where she sees Product Marketing going in the next 2-5 years, and even a personal story about her Grandma’s cookbook!
Rebecca: Can you talk about your past experiences and what led you to Ambra?
Nina: Before joining Ambra, I had worked at a few different healthcare companies and through those experiences I knew I wanted to work in digital health. I was (and remain!) excited about how the healthcare and technology sectors can converge to provide higher quality and more efficient patient care. What drew me to Ambra in particular was the strong company mission, the amazing team, and the location in NYC.
Rebecca: What does a typical day in Product Marketing look like for you?
Nina: A typical day in Product Marketing might consists of finalizing a new resource about our products, meeting with internal stakeholders about product messaging, prepping an email campaign, and preparing for an upcoming product launch or release. The real answer is that there is no standard day and we are constantly trying new things and starting new projects!
Rebecca: You have a unique career path at Ambra. How has it been going from a Sales Development Representative, to a Solutions Consultant, to now being the sole Product Marketing Manager?
Nina: I am so grateful to have experienced multiple roles and worked with different teams at Ambra. My experience as an SDR and my time as a Solutions Consultant equipped me with the sales exposure and product knowledge to take on the Product Marketing role. It has been incredibly fulfilling to build my career within a growing company and experience so many different roles.
Rebecca: Where do you expect the Product Marketing team at Ambra to go in the next 2-5 years?
Nina: In the next few years I expect the Product Marketing team to grow in size and scope. We have a long backlog of projects, such as adding in-platform user onboarding and collecting product-line oriented customer feedback. Product Marketing is a pretty new team and I am excited to see how we can continue to collaborate with the Product and Sales teams to create and promote products that our customers need and that further our goal of improving access to medical imaging across the healthcare industry.
Rebecca: In 3 words, how would you describe your job?
Nina: Dynamic, creative, and fun!
Rebecca: A tad off topic, but there is a rumor you love to cook and that your Grandma created her own cookbook. What has been your favorite dish to make during the past year?
Nina: Yes! My grandma used to teach Indian cooking classes across the country and wrote two cookbooks. I have to admit I used to be extremely picky and didn’t start eating her food until adulthood. One of my favorite things to cook is these cauliflower tacos — they are so delicious and popular even amongst my very carnivorous family and friends. I also love to make Priya Krishna’s Roasted Aloo Gobi from her book, Indian-ish. The thing I was most excited to make in the last year was dosas — it was so satisfying to finally learn how to make one of my favorite Indian foods.
Rebecca: The Ambra Health team is currently working remotely. Where are you working from at the moment?
Nina: I have primarily been working from my apartment in NYC. It has been so exciting to see the city reopening and I can’t wait for another summer in the city.
Rebecca: Any final words you would like to add about working for Ambra?
Nina: Ambra has been an amazing place to work. Throughout my 4 years here I have worked with and learned from smart, kind, and thoughtful people across the whole company. It has been rewarding to see Ambra grow over the years and I’m so proud of what we have accomplished so far.
