Cultivating a little more disruption

Since we’re in the business of challenging the status quo in medical technology, we jumped at the chance to participate in the More Disruption Please conference going on this week. The annual meeting brought together a select group of 50 CEOs, investors and innovators to discuss new ideas and how to build an eco-system of innovative healthcare IT companies. It’s all about disruptive innovation that changes the way healthcare works for the better.

The two-day conference included a panel on the state of U.S. healthcare, case study presentations and breakout sessions. DICOM Grid CEO Morris Panner also took part in the CEOs Two Minute Pitches on Tuesday. He got the opportunity to discuss the benefits of being able to instantly share medical images with a cloud-based medical image exchange such as ours. This type of online platforms allows doctors to:

  • Upload images and studies quickly and securely
  • Streamline workflow and communications
  • Transfer images between PACS and modalities with ease
  • Share images with other doctors, patients and facilities
  • Manage clinical trials
  • Archive and store images
  • Access images on mobile devices such as iPads

In an industry where seconds can matter, having instant access to all necessary information is often critical. Being able to share and view medical imaging from anywhere with Internet access can make the difference.

Morris also relished the opportunity to hear from other CEOs about the advancements they are making. The CEO of Doximity talked about their online professional network for physicians, which is basically LinkedIn for doctors. It allows members to reconnect with old colleagues, access contact information and gain visibility for their practice.

The CEO of iTriage also spoke at the conference about how they are bringing the insight of an ER doctor to your mobile phone. They walk individuals through the entire process, from identifying systems to understanding the causes, getting the right medical help and booking an appointment.

The More Disruption Please conference was a great way to inspire new ideas and cultivate entrepreneurship in the healthcare industry. Do you think a little more disruption is needed? Let us know your ideas in the comments below!
