KLAS Takes a Close Look at Medical Image Exchange

blog_image“Which image exchange vendors are delivering added value and functionality? Which vendors have earned high loyalty in today’s environment of consolidation and change?” These days, you’d be hard pressed to find a hospital CIO or CTO, who hasn’t asked these questions. If you’re wondering them yourself, you’re not alone.

In a recent performance report, Image Exchange 2014: Delivering Value in an Enterprise World, these were some of the questions KLAS, an independent research organization, set out to answer. After speaking to 193 providers from 166 organizations, KLAS compiled the first report of its kind in an effort to compare the industry’s leading image exchange vendors.

In total, KLAS profiled the offerings of seven vendors, and formally ranked four: DICOM Grid, DR Systems, lifeIMAGE, and Nuance (Accelarad).

During the research process, early adopters of image exchange were asked difficult, yet important, questions about key criteria related to performance, customer loyalty, and product usability:

So how did DICOM Grid stack up? Drum roll, please…

We’re excited to announce that DICOM Grid’s core product line, DG Suite, earned a high score of 89.9 out of 100, tying for first place in overall performance.

We want to take a moment to thank our customers for not only participating in the research, but for taking an active role in helping to shape our software. DICOM Grid received especially strong reviews from clients polled in the areas of functionality and confidence in future development. DG Suite received high scores for setting up new users.[1] Regarding setup, one customer commented, “It is ridiculously easy to set up new users on DG Suite. I just need their name and email address, and that is it.” [2]

In a side-by-side comparison, KLAS also reported that DICOM Grid received the highest rating for its “Implementation & Training”. In addition, the report found that of the customers interviewed, 100% of them cited DICOM Grid to be part of their organization’s long-term plans. [3] One customer noted, “I am in love with DG Suite. The system is really good. Referring doctors love it and the support is so good.”[4] Another DICOM Grid client commented, “It is extremely impressive how constant DICOM Grid is with their updates…we deal with numerous software companies, and we have found DICOM Grid to be among the very, very best in terms of communicating with the end user.” [5]

We’re very pleased with the overall findings, and of course, there’s always room for improvement. We’ve taken note of areas where users requested more functionality, and we’ll continue to develop our product roadmap to meet these requests.

For more information, please take a look at DICOM Grid’s overview sheet. If you’d like access to the full report, you can download it from the KLAS website. To learn more about DICOM Grid and to evaluate DG Suite, please request a demo of our software.
